Doris R. Kenkelen McDermott

Doris R. Kenkelen McDermott passed away peacefully in Burlington, New Jersey. She was 101 years old.

Doris was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of Frank and Mabel Haller. She graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School in 1942 and in 1945 she married George Kenkelen. They moved to Palmyra, NJ in 1953 to raise their three children.

Doris had a successful career as a business administrator for physicians, starting with George W. Dickenson, M.D. and continuing with Virtua Healthcare until her retirement in 1994. She was a voracious reader, loved golf, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an enthusiastic walker and regained her health through walking after several serious illnesses.

Doris and George loved cooking and baking and every Christmas they baked dozens of Dutch cakes to give as much awaited presents. Her family continues that tradition. She was a faithful parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Riverton.

Her husband George passed away in 1987 and in 2001 she married Carl McDermott who predeceased her in 2018.

She is survived by her children Fran (Lydia) Kenkelen, Dennis Kenkelen, and Kathleen (Peter) Cseke, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild, and brothers, Charles, Robert, and Dennis Haller. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother

A visitation for Doris will be held on Saturday, February 21st from 9:30am to 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am, both at Sacred Heart Church, 4th Street and Linden Ave., Riverton, NJ 08077. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ.
