Alan Wayne Romans, age 67, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on December 10, 1955. Alan was a member of Belmont General Baptist Church and was one of the hardest workers anyone has ever seen. He was so kind and would give the shirt off his back to a stranger. He was always thinking of others. Alan started driving a truck in 1973 and retired in 2021. He worked for Paul Ingram at the Morgantown Feed Mill, started working at USF Holland in 1992 and retired in 2021. He played baseball as a teen up until his 20's and he loved playing the guitar and singing. He would sing at several places after he got in church, he loved singing for the Lord. Alan joined the gospel group Resurrection Bound in 2000 and performed the last concert with them on April 29, 2017. He loved his daughters and spending time with his grandkids more than anything. He loved making jokes and knew exactly what to say or do when someone was sad. He always told his daughters and grandkids not to worry when he dies because he would be running down the streets of gold with Jesus. Alan was preceded in death by his parents Herman Lee and Norma Jean Leslie Romans; brothers Bryan Romans and Mike Romans.
Alan is survived by his wife Gwen Embry Romans, whom he married on Feb. 22, 1983; daughters Brooke Romans and Autumn Hernandez; grandchildren Railey Shreve and Adrian and Nevaeh Hernandez; sister Debbie Johnson; several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023 at 4pm at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Embry officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 10am until 4pm at Smith Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 280, Morgantown, Ky. 42261.
