Helon Frances Taylor Williams age 100 of Russellville, Kentucky passed away peacefully Sunday, August 24, 2025 at her home and fittingly as her family was gathered for birthday celebrations which she loved. Helon was born May 13, 1925 in Logan County, Kentucky to the late William Brodie Taylor, Sr. and Dora White Taylor.
Helon attended Red Oak School until beginning high school and proudly graduating from Russellville High School in the class of 1942. Following high school she attended Bowling Green Business University. She worked as a bookkeeper for Russellville bussinesses owned by the Newberry, Hancock and Fuqua families. While working for BG&H Bus Company she met the love of her life, the late Truman Williams. They were married, July 12, 1948 in Russellville. Helon's work included the U S Forestry Service, Sears and she retired at 71 with twenty seven years of service in accounting and finished as Secretary to the Superintendent of the Russellville Independent School System, which she loved. She was also an owner of Yellow Cab Co. with her husband Truman.
As a teen, Helon was saved and baptized at First Baptist Church in Russellville. In September 1944 she moved her membership to Post Oak Baptist Church were she remained a faithful member, taught Sunday School, was a deacon and trustee's wife, active WMU member and a custodian for over fifty years. She loved the Lord and missions organizations who helped spread the Gospel around the world. She wanted everyone to know and have a personal relationship with Christ.
Helon is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers William Brodie Taylor, Jr (Beatrice) and Marshall G. Taylor, father and mother in law George and Ethel Williams, brother in law and sister in law Burvin Stanley and Irene Stanley Weesner.
She is survived by her daughter Charlotte Williams Watkins husband Ron, son Hal Manning Williams wife Patty, brother Wayne Taylor wife Marilee, sister in law Mildred Taylor, grandchildren Caren Beth Martin (Jeff), Ashlea Hyde (Tommy), Lindsey Johnson (David), Alex Watkins (Meghan) and Allison Hagan (Jerrod), great grandchildren Savannah, Sydney, and Sheridan Shelton, Austin, Nickolas and Ellea Hyde, Shelbi and Jacob Brumfield, Ainsley and Emersyn Johnson, Jude, Samuel and Naomi Watkins and Lucas and Landon Hagan, great great grandson Jaxson Brumfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins she loved dearly and many life long friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held at the Post Oak Baptist Church Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 1:30pm with Dr. Alex Watkins and David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery where Jeff Martin, David Johnson, Nick Hyde, Jerrod Hagan, Ron Watkins and Jeff Taylor will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday August 28, 2025 from 10:00am until funeral time at 1:30pm at Post Oak Baptist Church.
