Alan G. Sera

Alan G. Sera of Aurora, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, with his brother by his side. He was a devoted husband, a proud Marine, a loyal brother, and a friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Alan was born on March 23, 1948, in Aurora, Illinois, to Albert and Helen (Kipper) Sera. He graduated from Roncalli High School in 1966 and, shortly thereafter, answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Alan served two years of active duty, including service in Vietnam as part of Foxtrot Seven. His dedication, bravery, and sense of duty were a source of great pride to his family and reflected the strong character he carried throughout his life.

In his quieter moments, Alan found joy in the simple pleasures he loved most. He enjoyed bowling, tending to his garden at home, and spending weekends exploring flea markets alongside his loving wife, Hope. He shared a special bond with his brother Mike, cherishing the time they spent together and the closeness they maintained throughout their lives. Alan had a warm and welcoming spirit, made friends easily, and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Alan will be deeply missed by those who survive him: his brother, Mike Sera; his niece, Cassandra Sera; and her daughter, Brittany.

He was preceded in death by both his parents and by his beloved wife, Hope (Timmerman) Sera, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at The Daleiden Mortuary (220 N. Lake St. Aurora, IL 60506). Interment will take place privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army in honor of Alan's life and legacy.
