Alan E Snyder, aged 77, of Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania, departed this life on September 26, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Born on February 5, 1948, in Schuylkill Haven, he embraced a life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family.
Alan made significant contributions to his community through his formidable career as a foreman at Reading Anthracite, where he devoted 25 years of his life. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were underscored by his earlier military service in the United States Army, where he honorably served as a Vietnam veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Outside of his professional achievements, Alan nurtured a passion for music during his high school years, participating in a band that fostered his love for performance. Additionally, he pursued a hobby as a pilot, demonstrating his adventurous spirit and zest for life.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife, Christine Snyder (Mengel); his son, Shawn E Snyder, who is married to Lisa; and his stepchildren, Heather L Harner, wife of Bradley, and Lisa Dronick. The joy of his life was found in his grandchildren: Lucy, Cora, Lily, Richard, Brian, Rich, Darryl, Joshua, Hannah, and Sarah, as well as his great-grandchild, Wyatt. Also cherishing his memory is his brother, Donald Snyder.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Snyder; his mother, Georgine (Knoll) Snyder; and his first wife, Jean C (Schneider).
A viewing will take place on October 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bern Reformed UCC, located at 3196 Bernville Road in Leesport, PA. Following the viewing, a funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM. Alan will then be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in East Hanover Township, with the burial service scheduled for 1:30 PM.
Alan E Snyder lived a life full of purpose and significance, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience that will be cherished by his family and friends for years to come.
