It is with great sadness that we remember and celebrate the life of Alan Strasko, who passed away on June 7, 2023. Born on February 8, 1948, in Plainfield, NJ, Alan was a loving, loyal, funny, and generous man who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Alan embodied this sentiment, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Alan, affectionately known as Flash and Gasser Al, was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served his country with honor and distinction. After returning from his service, Alan found his passion and calling as a butcher, where his dedication to his craft was appreciated and admired by all who had the pleasure of working with him. In his spare time, Alan was an avid lover of classic cars, music, and attending car shows with his wife, Melanie, and their close friends. He was also a member of the Edison Light Cruisers Car Club, where he was known for his infectious laughter and the joy he brought to others.
Family, friends, and happiness were the cornerstones of Alan's life. He enjoyed being a DJ at car shows, working on his beloved Corvette, and spending time at Point Pleasant, where he would indulge in delicious meals at the ShrimpBox and stroll along the boardwalk. Alan's generosity and willingness to help others knew no bounds, often going so far as to give someone the shirt off his back if they needed it. His unwavering love for his family is a testament to his character, and his memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Alan is survived by his loving spouse, Melanie Strasko; his daughters, Amie and Milla Strasko; his stepdaughter, Amanda Budis; and his sister, Suzanne Daley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Steven and Marie Strasko. In the words of Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." As we remember and honor Alan's life, we encourage you to leave memories and upload photos to his memorial page. Your heartfelt contributions will help to ensure that his legacy continues to be celebrated and cherished by all who knew and loved him.
