Alan Paul Stratton, 76 of Maxwell, passed away Monday, August 26, 2025, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Alan was born May 15, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Paul G. and Alyce Elizabeth (Riekena) Stratton. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1967 then enlisted in the United States Navy serving until his honorable discharge in 1971. Alan was united in marriage to Barbara Miller on January 17, 1981, and to this union two children were born, Carl and Audrey.

Alan retired from 3M where he was a machinist. He enjoyed the simple things in life, being outdoors and fishing.

Alan is survived by his children, Carl (Amanda) Stratton of Ankeny and Audrey (Craig) Beal of Nevada, and his grandchildren, Cora Stratton, Jacob Stratton, Mia Beal, Eli Stratton, Harper Beal, Evelynn Beal, Allisyn Beal and Blaire Beal. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2021; and his sister, Terry Stratton.

Alan has been cremated and a graveside service honoring his life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center. Following the graveside, the family will greet friends and have a luncheon at the Maxwell Area Community Center until 2 p.m.

Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Maxwell has been entrusted with the care of Alan. Condolences may be shared online with the family at www.rasmussonfh.com.
