Albert Frank "Tobe" Ahn, age 84, of Albia passed away on early Thursday morning, November 18, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Tobe was born on August 30, 1926, in Albia, to Wiley and Lela (Spinks) Ahn. He grew up and attended school in Albia. After school Albert married Gertrude McCombs on May 20, 1948 in Albia, they were blessed with 62 years of marriage. Tobe worked at John Morrell's for 28 years before it's closing in 1973. Then he worked in Albia for 16 years at Monroe County Activity Center. Tobe also worked at Gambles making store deliveries. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of The Eagles Club # 3583 and was a 1-2 member of the American Legion Howard Cessna Post 136 both of Albia. Tobe is survived by his wife, Gertrude Ahn of Albia; his children, Judy Ahn (Shawn Bradshaw) of Albia, and Trudy (Adrian) McDowell of Des Moines;4 grandchildren, Josh Smith (Sandie Robertson), Sarah (Derek) Peine, Angie (Shawn) Reeves, and Mendy Mayo; 10 great grandchildren, Gage, Drew, Jaycee Smith, Nick, Max, Isabel, and Gus Peine, Phoebe, Miles, and Trey Reeves. Tobe is also survived by 2 brothers, Jim Ahn of Albia, and Wiley Ahn of Collinsville, Illinois; and 2 sisters, Linda Fall of Washington, Iowa, and Darlene Beale of Des Moines. Tobe is preceded by his parents, Wiley and Lela, and 2 brothers, Richard Ahn and Tommy Heyland.
