Rev. Albert Lee Bentley, 83, of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away with his loving family by his side on Friday March 6, 2026 after a brief illness.
Albert was Born on January 29, 1943, in Whitesburg, Tennessee and a graduate of Bulls Gap High School. Albert also attended Clear Creek Baptist College in Pineville, KY.
He was a devoted husband to Sue and a loving father to Vicky and Robin and a loving uncle to Hope.
Albert was a hard-working and dedicated minister for sixty-one years. Albert pastored many churches and was always loved by his congregation. He also preached many Revival meetings throughout the years. Many times lovingly referred to as "Preacher Bentley" he served congregations in Tennessee and Kentucky.
Albert was also an insurance salesman and used this occupation to witness and minister to others.
Albert is survived by the love of his life, Sue, and wife of 60 years; his children Vicky Stoops (Scot), Robin Faust (Mark) and a very special niece Hope Baird, and his precious grandchildren, Derek Faust (Beth), Stephanie Stoops, Austin Faust (Emily), and Hunter Faust (Bethany), great grandchildren, Evelyn, Delaney and Jacob Faust, a very special nephew, Charles Bentley and a very special great niece, Charli Baird.
He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Carolyn Vaughn, brother and sister-in-law Dale and Theresa Vaughn, sister-in-law, Flonzie Bentley along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nora Bentley, siblings Hazel Pattison, Robert, Rufus and Dana Bentley and daughter, Cynthia Bentley.
The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to dear neighbors and friends whose love, support and friendship have been a blessing through the years.
Albert Bentley lived a life marked by faith, loyalty, laughter and love. His heritage will continue to bless the hearts of those blessed to have known him and the example he set of humble service, steadfast devotion and family first will remain forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Pinecrest Baptist Church, 2129 Old Lewis Road in Johnson City on Tuesday March 10, 2026, with a visitation hour starting at 12:00 noon and the service beginning at 1:00 pm. with Pastor’s Sam Icenhour and Gary Edwards officiating. Pallbearers will be Derek Faust, Austin Faust, Hunter Faust, Mark Faust, Charles Bentley and Scot Stoops. Honorary Pallbearers are Brad Hasty, Tommy Johnson, Cleatus Murray, Pastors of the Holston and Watauga Associations and his Church family at Pinecrest Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City.
The family wishes to thank Megan Rutherford and members of Amedisys Home Health Care Services for their loving support to the family.
