Lance Thieme Obituary

Lance Allen Thieme, born April 10, 1960, at Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois, passed away on March 1, 2026, while residing in Butler, Tennessee.

Lance was a Navy brat and moved where dad was stationed about every 2 ½ years. Lance spent his early childhood on Guam and in Lakewood, California, where his easygoing nature and love for the outdoors first began. He later moved with his family to Illinois and went on to graduate from Libertyville High School in 1978 from Libertyville, IL. Several lifelong school friends are still a huge part of his life. Lance built his career as a low voltage electrician, spending many of his professional years working in Chicago, Illinois. He approached his craft with patience, skill, and pride. Beyond the work itself, he deeply valued the camaraderie he shared with his fellow electricians—the friendships built on job sites, long days, shared challenges, and countless laughs. Lance had a rare gift for connection, and he kept every friend he ever made throughout his life, staying loyal, present, and steadfast to those he cared about.

His move to Tennessee proved to be one of the greatest blessings of his life. What began as a new chapter became a profound gift, as he found himself surrounded by loving and supportive people who embraced him as family. Their kindness, loyalty, and unwavering care made Tennessee feel like home.

While living there, Lance experienced a meaningful spiritual renewal. He found God in Tennessee, along with a community that brought him strength, fellowship, and peace.

Lance found deep joy in the outdoors, especially fishing, a lifelong passion that grounded him from childhood through his final years.

Lance is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Lucy Thieme. He is survived by his brothers Rob (Kim), Brad (Julie), and Wayne (Julie) Thieme, who will forever remember him for his gentle heart, loyal spirit, and warm sense of humor.

Lance will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Sugar Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Don Winters. A fellowship meal will follow. Memorial donations may be made in Lance’s memory to Sugar Grove Disaster Relief Fund, 925 Sugar Grove Church Rd, Butler, TN 37640.
