On the morning of Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Albert Carl Crain, age 83, of Marion, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Yancey County, he was born November 12, 1942 to the late Earlis Crain and Jenny Silvers Crain.
Al was employed for over 30 years as a Reliability Engineer with Kearfott Corporation. An avid outdoorsman with an adventurous spirit, he enjoyed time spent hunting, fishing, and kayaking. He loved traveling, especially in their motorhome. Al loved a good game of golf, and he was an accomplished mechanic as well. He loved his family above all else, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Tommy Crain, Johnny Crain, Dora Robinson, Ennis Arden, Louise Phillips, and Margaret Young.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Pauline Crain; two children, Al Crain, II (Phyllis) and Tiffany Crain Parker (Eric); two grandchildren, Justin Braswell (Melisa) and Gavin Parker (Sage); two great grandchildren, Rangeley and Evelyn; one brother, Kenneth Crain; two sisters, Joyce Riddle and Theresa Collins (Kenneth); and a number of nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, a private family memorial service will be held.
