Albert Damitz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home & Alpha Crematory on Oct. 7, 2024.
Albert Emil Damitz of Eagle River, WI, passed away peacefully at his home on October 6, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on November 30, 1940, in Waukesha, WI to Elmer and Mary (Stigelski) Damitz.
On May 8, 1965, he married Darlene Panawash, who survives. Survivors besides his wife include his sisters, Shirley Kern and Janet (John) Busche, children David (fiancé Sally),
Pam Damitz Kramer (Mike), grandchildren Kevin (Amber), Kody, Kaleb, Cassady (Gavin), Cassandra, Kylie, and Ashton, great grandchildren Brady, Ava, Eleanor, Aubriegh, and Madelyn. He was preceded in death by his sister Patty Wichman and his parents Elmer and Mary.
Albert was a 1958 graduate of Waukesha South High School. After graduation he served in the Army a short time in active duty. He was then released to the National Guard of Wisconsin where he did reserve work at the missile site in Muskego, WI, until the site closed. He was discharged in 1961.
Albert was a lifelong sheet metal worker completing his apprenticeship on July 2, 1964, where he was employed at Kramer Heating & Manufacturing Inc. in Milwaukee, WI. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association Local Union No. 18 for 50+ years.
He lived in Waukesha, WI for several years. He then decided he wanted to be further north and moved his family to Birnamwood, WI. Continuing his trade of sheet metal work, he worked at Stainless Specialist and Mid-State Contracting, LLC in Wausau, WI. Upon retirement Albert and Darlene moved to Eagle River, WI.
Albert immensely enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing the many lakes and streams in the north woods, hunting, vegetable gardening, and picking wild mushrooms, asparagus, & berries.
He will be missed by many. Farewell for now until we meet again beloved husband, dad, uncle, and grandpa. God Bless and Rest in Peace.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
