Albert Reed Harston, 85, of Scottsville, KY passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026 at the Medical Center at Scottsville. The Scottsville, KY native was a retired employee of Detrex, the first master electrician in Allen County, Viet Nam U. S. Navy veteran having served for 21 years, retired Master Chief Machinist Mate, and served on the ship that rescued the Gemini Capsule. He joined Eureka Lodge #1 F & A M in New Point, RI in 1966 and transferred to Graham Lodge #208 F & A M in 1978. He was also a member of Halfrey Dalton VFW Post 5712, Scottsville Chapter #60 OES, Past Grand Patron of Grand Chapter of Kentucky in 2004, Past Potentate of Rizpah Shrine in Madisonville, KY and a Kentucky Colonel. He was the son of the late Arthur Reed Harston and Bernice May Centers Harston.

He is survived by his wife: Elsie Harston, Scottsville, KY;

4 sons: Michael Reed Harston, Lawton, OK; Steven Paul Harston and Wayne Ellison Akers, both of Scottsville, KY; Velmer Lee Akers (Connie), Jacksonville, FL;

1 daughter: Glenda Jean Fields, Scottsville, KY;

1 sister: Carol Rhea Weaver (James "Boss"), Scottsville, KY;

9 grandchildren: Michael "Peanut" Wilson (Brooke), Holly Smith (Nathan), Danny Wilson (Kristy), Lacey Akers, Ashley Akers, Cody Akers, Seth Carpenter, Austin Carpenter and Cameron Carpenter;

Several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Carolyn Faye Scott (Lowell).

Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Goad Funeral Home. Graham Lodge #208 F & A M will hold masonic rites at 6:00 p.m. All master masons wishing to participate should be at the lodge at 5:30 p.m. Scottsville Chapter #60 OES will hold rites at 6:30 p.m. and Halfrey Dalton will end the visitation with a military walk through. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Shriner's Burn Center. Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
