"Well done, thou good and faithful servant..." - Matthew 25:21 Albert J. Johnson, born April 3, 1952, in Rebecca, GA. was called home to be with the Lord on September 18, 2025, at 11:45 a.m., following a long and difficult hospital stay. Though his body grew weary, his spirit remained steadfast, anchored in faith and fortified by love. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Albert served his country with honor and distinction. His decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter, and Marksman commendations-testaments to his discipline, courage, and unwavering commitment to duty. He rejoiced that many of his grandchildren followed in his footsteps, embracing service and sacrifice with pride. Albert dedicated over 20 years of hard work to Collins and Aikman, where he retired with dignity and respect. His work ethic was unmatched, his loyalty unwavering, and his quiet strength a pillar to those around him. Albert was a faithful servant of the Lord and a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served as both Trustee and Usher. He found joy in greeting others with warmth and reverence, always ready to lend a hand or offer a prayer. His love for God was evident in the way he lived-humble, generous, and full of grace. He believed that service was worship, and he gave of himself freely, both in the sanctuary and in the community. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dorethea and Columbus Johnson, and now rests in eternal peace, reunited with them in glory. Albert leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Deloris Johnson, whose love was his anchor and companion through every season. He is also survived by five children: sons Eddie Williams, Terry Williams, and Henry (Malissa) Williams; daughters Jessica (Eric) James and Dorethea Johnson. He also leaves behind his loving siblings: brothers Arthur Johsnon, Isaac ( Yvonne) Johnson, and Jasper ( Hope) Hooks, sisters, Lauramae Johnson, Lizzie (James) Hooks Burkes, Virginia Hooks and Shirley Hooks. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Taijae (Megan) Evans, Tierra Williams, Raquel Williams, Terris Williams, Eshonti James, T 'Shawn Williams, Terrell Williams, Eric James Jr., Javon Williams, Mercedes Horston, Tayler James, A'niya Mccullough, Shanya Gadsden, GaNiyah Shipp and Jayden Williams; along with a host of great grandchildren, cousins, and friends. Albert's life was a living testimony of Psalm 91:1-"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." His faith sustained him, his love uplifted others, and his legacy will continue to shine like a lamp unto our feet. Above all, Albert loved his family deeply. He was their protector, their encourager, and their example of strength and grace. Whether he gathered around the dinner table or the spades table, his presence lit up the room. And when it came to spades-Albert was the all-time greatest. His strategy was sharp, his trash talks legendary, and his laughter contagious. He played with passion, pride, and a twinkle in his eye when he would slam the card on his forehead and say with a big smile saying ahhhhhhhh.. Though we mourn his passing, we rejoice in knowing that he has entered the joy of the Lord. His race is run, his battle won, and his soul rests in the arms of our Saviour. Funeral Services will be held at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church (700 Market Ave. SW Canton) on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Charles Prince officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the Church. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with full Military Honors.
