Albert Daniel "Danny" Johnson, 73, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Danny was born on September 28, 1951, to Tommy and Wanda Johnson. On March 5, 1971, he married his sweetheart, Sandra Taylor, in Oxford, Arkansas. The two shared 54 wonderful years together, building a life filled with love, family, and lasting memories. Danny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather ("Pappaw"), and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Johnson, of the home; two daughters, Janet (Devon) Smoot and Robin (Richard) VanGinhoven, both of Mammoth Spring; six granddaughters, Sierra (Scott) Small of Mammoth Spring, Shy Smoot of Mammoth Spring, Caitlin (Chase) Snow of Bentonville, AR, Brianna (Nick) Mero of Farmington, AR, Maddie (Tyler) Savage of Mammoth Spring, and Shelby VanGinhoven of Jonesboro, AR; and three great-grandchildren, Wesleigh Kate Small, Rush Mero, and Lane Savage.
He is also survived by three brothers, Thomas Johnson, Doug (Elousie) Johnson, and Don (Lorraine) Johnson; one sister, Anita Wells; two sisters-in-law, Jean Downing and Barbara Thompson; two brothers-in-law, Steve Taylor and Randy (Cheryl) Taylor; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who were like family.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Wanda Johnson; his father- and mother-in-law, Verl and Bonnie Taylor; one sister, Diane Barker; one brother-in-law, Frank Wells; and one sister-in-law, Kay Johnson, and one close friend Eugene Washam.
Danny dedicated 47 years of hard work to Cover Lumber Company, where he was known for his reliability, dedication, and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling, farming, cooking, and-most of all-eating. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and was their biggest fan at every sporting event. In quieter moments, Danny enjoyed watching Law and Order, golf, and old westerns. His presence filled a room with warmth and humor, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 10am Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with Bro. Jay Nelson officiating. Visitation will be 6pm-8pm Monday, September 22, 2025.
Honorary Pallbearers: Ray Barker, Junior Bookout, Brad Johnson, Tommy Wayne Johnson Kyle Taylor, Brad Washam, Dale Washam, and Jack Wells
