Albert William Kimes known as "Bun" to his family and friends, passed away at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau MO on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 6:40 a.m.at the age of 91 years, 4 months, and 11 days.

Bun was born to Effie Mae Hoggard Kimes and Franklin Day Kimes in Portageville, Missouri on September 19, 1934. Bun loved playing football at Portageville High. He married Nina Mae Luker on June 20,1957 in Portageville. Bun was a farmer in Portageville and for many years and farmed with his brother Sherman from 1958-2009. He was also the President of the Portageville Farmers Gin, One of his great achievements was being a grandfather to Sarah, Rebecca, Haley, Addison, and Jagger. He cherished his time with them attending their sporting and other events as long as he was able to with his health. Preceding him in death are his parents Effie Mae and Franklin Kimes, of Portageville MO, his wife Nina Mae (Luker) Kimes of Portageville MO, one sister, Mary Jo Barnett of Grandin, MO, two brothers: Sherman Kimes and Jack Kimes of Portageville, MO.

Surviving Bun are his children, Mark Kimes and Melenda (Elvis) Cayton both of Portageville, MO, one brother, Franklin Kimes of Atoka, TN and one sister, Shirley Henson of West Memphis, TN. Three grandchildren; Sarah (Brian) Cayton Lawyer of Frisco TX, Rebecca Cayton Gurley of Portageville, MO, and Haley Kimes of Cape Girardeau, MO, two great-grandchildren; Addison and Jagger Gurley of Portageville, MO.

Bun's special caregivers, Mattie Preyor, Margaret Partee, and Sherry Butler made it possible for him to stay at home and be spoiled and loved on this past year.
