Albert Charles Meserve of Hingham, formerly of Bridgewater, passed away at home on July 2, 2023. He was 88 years old.
Albert was born in Bridgewater on April 25, 1935, and graduated from Bridgewater Public Schools (specifically the Academy Building) with the class of 1953. After graduating, Albert served in the Marine Corps from 1953 to 1957.
Following his time in the military, Albert would settle down in Bridgewater with his first wife, Georgina (Leach) Meserve, where they would raise their three children. He would work for Meserve Electric Company in Bridgewater, becoming co-owner with his brother Carl Meserve until retiring in 2000.
Albert loved being active outside. He played semi-pro football, competed in water skiing tournaments, and even had his pilot's license. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and enjoyed flying to many destinations along the eastern parts of the United States. He also was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and enjoyed a good hike or bike ride in the summer, and a ski or snowshoeing trip in the winter.
Albert was a man of his word. He will be remembered for his honest, genuine, and reliable personality. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Albert is predeceased by his parents, Henry Meserve and Ethel (Thayer) Meserve of Bridgewater; his brothers, Clyde Meserve of East Bridgewater, and Carl Meserve of Bridgewater; as well as his first wife, Georgina. Loving husband to Edna (Conant) Meserve of Hingham. Father of Brian Meserve of East Bridgewater, Beth Meserve of Attleboro, and Joseph Meserve of East Bridgewater. Stepfather of Tracy England of Los Angeles, and Bruce Phillips of Lowell. Brother of Beverly Mitchel of Bridgewater. Grandfather of Austin Starvish of Attleboro and great grandfather of Logan Starvish. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends and relatives are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 5-7 PM at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 98 Bedford Street,
Bridgewater, MA 02324. A burial of cremated remains to take place on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 10:15 AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
