William D. "Bill" Nee, age 62 of Bridgewater, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on January 29th, after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
Bill was the loving son of Suzzanne (Shaw) and Andrew Nee. He grew up in North Quincy and was a 1982 graduate of North Quincy High School, where he played hockey. One special memory was knowing his Dad was there cheering him on at all his sporting events. Bill was a huge NE sports fan, always enjoying games with his family. Bill enlisted in the United States Army after graduating from high school. He served in the 82nd Airborne and was recognized with commendations for his participation in conflicts in Grenada and Panama, traveling the world to serve his country. Bill was a proud Army veteran and loved military aircraft.
He met the love of his life and best friend, Molly (DaSilva) Nee in 1987. They married on October 21, 1989 and recently celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary. Molly and Bill were true partners, taking care of each other and enjoying life together. They settled in Bridgewater and raised their 4 children with a lot of love, laughter and a little bit (well maybe a lot) of chaos. Bill and Molly opened their home to many foster children, giving them a wonderful loving family at a time when love is just what was needed. Bill was the devoted father to Jasmyn S. Nee of Taunton, Robert S. Nee, Savannah A. Nee, Patrick W. Nee and his wife Kari all of Bridgewater. Bill loved being a dad and was there for his children at every turn, passing on his values, showing up whenever they needed him and always offering advice. He coached his children in baseball and basketball.
Bill took up the sport of golf, and that steered him to his final career path of golf superintendent. He worked at many courses, but his final spot was North Hill CC in Duxbury where he worked for Johnson Golf Management. Bill shared his passion with NE sports with all that "BELIEVED". His one personal favorite was getting to enjoy the Red Sox win the 2018 World Series in California with his nephew Tommy. On a recent trip to upstate New York in October, he shared with anyone in earshot that "we are taking back what is rightfully ours" meaning the AFC title. He recently got to enjoy a Monday night Patriots game with his boys at Gillette and together they watched the AFC championship game while in the hospital, pausing the care a nurse was giving to him to check on the score.
Bill was always down for a good foot or back rub and his girls were always happy to oblige and that is a special memory with their dad. He enjoyed binging shows with Savannah and playing guess the title and artist of his music with Jasmyn. The family loved to go to trivia nights together and they have custom shirts with their trivia team name. Bill and Molly enjoyed music, especially the country genre and trips to Nashville were very special times they had together. They were able to take a dream vacation out west last year to enjoy the many national parks, a trip that was very special to both of them and one that will never be forgotten.
The Nee family also has had the privilege to love many springer spaniels. A few would chase geese on the golf course while Bill worked. Birdie and Bogey were two special dogs who have crossed the rainbow bridge. When the family had to say good-bye to Bogey, Bill wanted to adopt another puppy and he was so proud of his handsome guy Divot, who became a member of the family, joining Bill's beloved girl Tee, in July of 2025. Because Divot needed a friend and so he would stop harassing Tee, Driver was added to the crew in October of 2025. Bill loved his fur babies and even danced with and sang to his dogs on occasion.
Bill will be remembered by his quick witted sarcastic, unfiltered humor. "Take me as I am" is what he would say. What many will remember him by is his extreme work ethic, something he passed onto his kids and nephews. Bill was always willing to help anyone who needed a hand no matter the task.
Bill was the loving brother to John Nee of Quincy, Patricia Butts of Rockland and her late husband Michael, Maryellen Ayoub and her husband George of Brockton, Helen Donald and her husband Jeff of Quincy, James Nee of Weymouth, Timothy Nee and his wife Dawn of Otisfield, Maine and Susan Deame of Abington. Bill is survived by many relatives and an abundance of great friends.
On Tuesday Feb 3, all are cordially invited to the Chapman Funerals and Cremations 98 Bedford St. Bridgewater for a visitation period from 6-8pm.
