John Leo “Jack” Whitehouse, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born and raised in Quincy, son of the late Margaret (Murphy) Whitehouse and John Elton Whitehouse, Jack was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Class of 1965.
Jack honorably served his country with two tours in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He earned the rank of Captain and was a proud Green Beret. During his time in the Army he earned several honors, including the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Army Commendation Medal, among others. He was a dedicated soldier who took pride in learning to speak Vietnamese. Following his military service, he continued his education and earned his Bachelors Degree from UMass Amherst and his Law Degree from Suffolk Law School. He went on to open his own law practice, The Law Offices of John L. Whitehouse, in Brockton, where he devoted his career to serving those in need with professionalism, compassion, and dedication. He was a resident of Stoughton for 35 years.
A man of many passions, Jack loved vintage cars and treasured the freedom of the open road, including memorable cross-country trips on his Vincent motorcycle. He found great joy working with his hands, especially woodworking, and took pride in creating and fixing things. Jack also had a deep love of American history and was an avid reader, with a special interest in the Civil War era. A man of quiet integrity, he had a love of animals and dogs, especially Huskies and German Shepards.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, best friend, and partner of 35 years, Sharon (Caruso) Chaisson Whitehouse of Stoughton. He was the brother of Joseph Whitehouse and his wife Mindy of FL and Joan Donelan and her husband Tom of Wareham. He was the uncle of Lisa Tufts and Jamie Donelan and is also survived by Sharon’s children Brian Chaisson and partner Jeffrey Kane of Easthampton and Michelle Chaisson of Stoughton. He is also survived by his grandchildren Chase and Victoria Chaisson.
In keeping with Jack’s wishes, a celebration of life will be planned at a later date to honor and remember a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's memory to "The Micheal J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research" or to "Disabled Veteran's National Foundation" to help strengthen veteran programs, assistance, and long-term support.
Jack will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his legacy of service, curiosity, and kindness will live on.
