Albert P. Mueller

Albert Paul Mueller, 95, of Nashua, passed away peacefully at his home, Wednesday afternoon, November 13, 2024 after a period of declining health.
A native of Adliswill-Zurich, Switzerland, he was born on November 26, 1928, one of three children of the late Albert and Flora (Kundig) Mueller. Albert was educated in Swiss schools and graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Abend Technikum Zurich in Switzerland in March 1955, where he attended evening classes while working full time.
Since knowledge of foreign languages was, and continues to be, very important in Switzerland, he spent a year in the French-speaking part of the country during his adolescence. At the age of 28, Albert came to the United States with the intention of spending two years working in Orange, MA while taking evening courses to learn English at University of Massachusetts Amherst. However, he took a liking to this country, and a permanent work opportunity, plus the fortuitous meeting of his future wife, Frances, at the wedding of a coworker, resulted in a change of plans. He became a United States citizen on September 11, 1963 and made his home in Nashua for nearly sixty years.
Albert was employed as a mechanical engineer with the former Improved Machinery (IMPCO) and their successor Ingersoll Rand for many years. After he retired, Albert was a substitute teacher for the Nashua School System.
He held memberships in the Swiss Clubs of New Hampshire and Boston; loved listening to Swiss music and played the accordion in his younger years. Albert enjoyed Alpine and Cross-country skiing and hiking in the mountains of New Hampshire. In his leisure time, Albert enjoyed reading (especially French-language novels to maintain his French skills); sudoku puzzles to keep the brain sharp; and most of all, gardening. In addition to meticulously caring for his own garden, he took pleasure in helping neighbors and friends across town with cleaning up and beautifying their yards. Moreover, these past few years he also looked forward to the weekly outings for lunch with his group of friends (affectionately referred to as "the gang"), who enriched his life.
Albert's Catholic faith was very important to him. He was a member of St. John XXIII Parish (Infant Jesus campus) in Nashua, and was also a communicant of St. Christopher, St. Patrick, and St. Stanislaus parishes in Nashua.
He was also a strong believer in the importance of education, appreciating the opportunities it had afforded him, and thus felt compelled to "pay it forward" by donating (generously and quietly) to various educational institutions, as well as to others who were less fortunate, in the community and beyond.
Albert was the widower of Frances T. (Milosh) Mueller, who passed away May 20, 1994. They were married on December 11, 1969 and shared nearly 25 years together. He taught her how to ski, and she graced him with her delicious home cooking.
Members of his family include his beloved elder sister, Dorli Mueller of Lucerne, Switzerland; his niece, Corinna Mueller Batschmann and her husband Peter; and nephews, Beat (wife Corinne) and Daniel (wife Daniela) Mueller, and Philip Gibbons and his wife Sherri Ann; also several grandnieces, grandnephews, and many friends including his "best best" friend, Judite Ferreira. In addition to his wife and parents, Albert was predeceased by his younger brother, Paul Mueller, in 2009.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint John Neumann Parish, 708 Milford Road, Route 101A in Merrimack on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Hudson.
