Pamela Auer Obituary

Pamela Sue Auer passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 13, 2025. Anyone who knew Pam, knew that her biggest legacy was her passion for people. This was never more true than her love and dedication to her family and friends. The bounds of her strength and determination were limitless when it came to battling her health issues in recent years, all to have more time with her loved ones.

Pamela was born at Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital in New York City and spent her childhood playing with her siblings and sibling-like cousins. She loved going to carnivals and taking piano lessons as a child. Whenever she would come across a piano later in life, she would always play her favorite tune, "Downtown". She graduated from Bayside High School in Queens in 1972 before heading to the University of Miami.

She loved the warm weather, and found herself living in the British Virgin Islands before settling in North Conway, NH. It was at work where she met her soulmate and future husband, Horst Auer. After the birth of their first child, they relocated to Litchfield, NH then to Merrimack, NH where they raised their family for the next 18 years.

Together they raised three children that were the central focus of Pamela's life: Jason, Gregory, and Julia. They provided a childhood full of family functions, magical holidays, ski trips, and summers spent at Lake Winnisquam, their most cherished family destination.

When her children grew into adults, Pamela was just as devoted to them, finding so much joy in her four grandchildren, Steven, Alexander, Ilana and Violet. You could find her playing with them on the floor, taking them on adventures, or getting together for family dinners nearly every weekend. She lived for her role as Grammie. In Steven Auer's words (age 11): "She made everything magical. Everything felt like a fun surprise".

Pamela's dedication extended past her family. She had a heart for helping. For the past 19 years she worked as Development Director for Bridges: Domestic & Sexual Violence Support. She cared so deeply about the work at Bridges, that her passion was contagious. When she started talking about Bridges, she could light up a room and spur action. Pamela started the Development function at Bridges from scratch, building all of the events, fundraisers, foundation grants and relationships with private donors in the community. Before Bridges, she lent her hand to other organizations including Caregivers and the American Red Cross.

Her community focus involved mentoring and helping others for countless years. She was the woman you called in a crisis. She would always say, "I just have that face." Her friendships spanned decades, and she gathered friends from every corner of her life. Pamela was the glue that held her family and friends together, always taking care of others with her generous and thoughtful spirit.

Pamela is predeceased by her husband Horst Auer, her Mother and Stepfather Barbara and Bert Gottesman, her father Richard Schwarz, and her nephews Eric McGregor and Adam Schwarz. She leaves behind many beloved family members.

Pamela is survived by her children, Jason Auer and his wife Heather Auer, Gregory Auer, Julia (Auer) Shepherd and her husband Kyle Shepherd, her grandchildren, Steven Auer, Alexander Auer, Ilana Auer and Violet Shepherd. She also leaves behind her sister, Deborah Schwarz and her brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Rhonda Schwarz, her nieces and nephews, David McGregor, Vallari McGregor, Amy (Schwarz) Hutchinson and her husband Sam Hutchinson and their sons Jake, Miles and Dylan, her very special Aunt Renee Buck, and many cherished cousins, family members and godchildren. Although the foregoing are her family members, she also cherished her friends with the light of a thousand stars. And, like the stars in the night sky, they are too numerous to list.

SERVICES: Pamela's life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 19th with a visitation from 8:30-9:30AM and funeral services at 9:30AM at Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH. Her burial will follow at Last Rest Cemetery, 7 Hillside Terrace, Merrimack, NH. Following the burial, Pamela's family and friends are invited to gather at Nashua Country Club, 25 Fairway St, Nashua, NH.

In lieu of flowers, Pamela's family requests that donations are made in her memory to Bridges: Domestic & Sexual Violence Support at: https://www.bridgesnh.org/how-you-can-help/make-a-donation/
