Albert Ray Randolph, age 84, of Atlanta, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025.
Ray was born in San Antonio, Texas, and grew up working alongside his pappy on the family farm, where he learned the value of hard work and the art of doing things with his hands. He always remembered how his pappy would pour a little fresh milk from the morning milking into a bowl for the farm cats. It was a small act of kindness that stuck with him through the years. When he got older and had dogs of his own, he carried on the tradition-pouring them a bit of milk as a treat, just like his pappy did. It was his way of keeping those simple, gentle moments of farm life alive.
In the years to come, Ray spent time as a tugboat hand, guiding heavy loads of logs up and down the river with steady hands and a watchful eye, as well as driving a diesel truck. He was well known for his love and restoration of classic vintage cars. Whether on the river or the road, he found pride in honest work and the quiet satisfaction of keeping things moving.
He was a hardworking man who loved his family, friends, dogs, and anything antique. He was known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and his ability to make everyone around him laugh. In his final week, Ray experienced one of life's greatest blessings - he was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. With his heart renewed, he went home to be with the Lord surrounded by love.
In his later years, Ray found comfort and joy in the quiet moments spent with a good book in his hands. He especially loved reading the Bible, finding peace and strength in the Word, and soaking in wisdom and stories that nourished his spirit and brought him closer to God. He often discussed topics with his best friend, Joe, and the pair never ended a visit without reciting his favorite scripture: Numbers 6:24-26.
Ray is preceded in death by parents Bart Randolph and Anna Lee (Sparkman) Randolph; brothers Pat Randolph and Brett Sharon; sisters Trudy Norma Murphy and Linda Keeton; and son-in-law Jimmy McCreery.
He is survived by his daughter, Katherine McCreery; his son, Jody Randolph and wife Rene; grandchildren Natasha Miller, Tabitha Waldon, Craig Woods, Micah Miller, Dylan McCreery, David McCreery, Sean Randolph, Gavan Randolph, and Liam Randolph; numerous great-grandchildren; brother Christopher Sharon; sister Sharon Randolph; best friend Joe Doughty; and his two loyal dogs, Harper and Daisy, who were his constant companions and a source of joy.
