Albert Lee Taylor, 78, a decorated U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran and devoted family man, completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, and was joyfully reunited with his beloved sister, the late Mary Louise Taylor Brazzel, who preceded him in death. And also preceding him in death are his parents, Olney Alton Taylor and Mary Lee Taylor; and by his stepdaughter, Laurie Kent.
A true American hero, Al served with distinction in the Brown Water Navy's Riverine Force during the Vietnam War, piloting PBRs through the dangerous Mekong Delta. His courage earned him the Navy Commendation Medal w/Combat Valor, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and various other accommodations. After his service, he returned to Louisiana, earning his Petroleum Technology degree from Nicholls State University before building a successful career with Marathon Oil and Swift Energy.
Beyond his professional life, Albert was a devoted husband and brother who cherished golfing, LSU football games, boating on the bayou, and hunting with friends and family. His warm humor, persistent instigation, steadfast loyalty, and gift for storytelling left a lasting mark on everyone he knew.
Above all, Al cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia Taylor; and three brothers and their wives James and Myrna, Freddie and Patty, and Charles and Tracy Taylor. He is also survived by his loving sister's husband Ray Brazzel; his grandchildren, Thera Ricks, John McColloster and Joseph McColloster; his great-grandchildren, Lexie Ricks, Logan Feezel, triplets, Ryleigh, Rhett & Colt McColloster, and Kase McColloster; his son-in-law, Robert Rose; his step-daughter, Hannah McColloster (John); his sisters-in-law, Carol Tucker and Catherine Wiles; and many nieces and nephews who adored him.
The family extends deepest gratitude to Kristal Johnson and her family for their compassionate care in Al's final days - your kindness brought comfort and dignity to his journey.
