Albert B. Weir

Albert B. Weir, of Middleboro, passed away on October 5, 2021 at the age of 87 peacefully with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Lexie J. (Carr) and Charles A. Weir.
Al attended Foxboro Schools from grade school through high school and finished his education in the military. He joined the United States Marines in 1952 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1955. He served in the Korean War, and was awarded a purple heart. Al was married to the love of his life, Ruth, for over 43 years. Together they raised 4 children. He worked a lengthy career at the Foxboro Company from 1956-1986 and retired as a Methods Manager. After retirement from Foxboro Co. , he worked as a dispatcher for Bradshaw Sand and Gravel Co and then a manager for True Value hardware store.

Al was an avid fisherman who enjoyed going fly fishing and making his own fishing lures. He spent a lot of time fishing the Cape Cod Canal. He was a talented gardener who loved to grow and can the vegetables he and his wife grew in the garden together. Al loved spending time with his family. Family meant the most to him. He and his wife spent many weekends going up to Vermont to visit his brother and sister.

Al was the loving husband of Ruth B. Weir. Father of Kenneth Weir of Whitman, Lisa Smith and her husband James of East Bridgewater, the late David Weir of Halifax, and the late Curtis Woodward of Halifax. Grandpa of David Hathaway and his wife Ashlet Gregor, Tyler Cataldo-Woodward, and Nichol Smith. Great-grandpa of David Hathway, Jr. Brother of the late E. Jean(Weir) Foley of So. Burlington, VT, the late Madeline I. A. (Weir) Wooley of Kansas City, MO, the late Walter C. Weir of Underhill VT, the late James A. Weir, Sr of Taunton, MA, and Paul A. Weir of Mansfield, MA. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews and all that knew him.

Visiting hours will be held from 5:00PM-7:00PM on Tuesday, October 12th at Chapman Funerals & Cremations - East Bridgewater, 35 Spring Street. A memorial service will begin at 7:00PM. COVID-19 precautions and masks will be required for all attending.
