Judith Dennis Obituary
Judith Mae (Taylor) Dennis, 89, of East Bridgewater, passed away January 27, 2026 after a progressive battle with dementia. She was born in Brockton, to Dorothy and Phillip Taylor on June 10, 1936. She graduated from Abington High School. She later attended Boston University where she received her Bachelor of Art's Degree in Romance Language.
Judy fell in love, and married, Robert W Dennis, Jr, also of Abington, on April 5, 1959. They lived in Abington MA, Essex CT, then Bridgewater MA, before settling into their 1734 'old Colonial' in East Bridgewater in August 1972, which was lovingly referred to as "The Farm" by close friends & family. Perhaps this phrase captured Judy's love for animals. Over the years, they raised chickens, a cat, a number of dogs, and even pigs; at one time, they had four pigs (named Eeny, Meeny, Miny, and Moe). Judy & Bob had four children: Scott Whitney (1961), Susan Elizabeth (1963), Jeffrey Taylor (1965), and Julie Elizabeth (1970).
Judy raised her children, worked at the East Bridgewater Middle School, then owned and operated the Honey Bee Bear Shop in East Bridgewater. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend.
As Judy approached the age of 60, she became interested in specialized foster care. And so it came to be. For the next 20+ years, Judy (and Bob) raised foster children, primarily teenage girls. As one of her girls recalls, "She didn't just foster children. She loved them. She fought for them. She made them feel safe, wanted, and seen." "She didn't just open her house, she
opened her heart, completely and without conditions." Judy loved to laugh. She loved fireplace meals in the old house, get-togethers with friends, and traveling. She and Bob enjoyed several cruises, visited Africa, China, Antarctica, and stood
where Jesus had once preached. Judy loved to crochet & knit.
Later in life, she found great joy in making tablecloths. She would make sets, being mindful to have a tablecloth for each major
holiday. Then she would simply gift them to friends, family, and others. If she knew someone had a particular love, she would make a special tablecloth, reflecting that passion. All in all, she made & gifted over 400 tablecloths! She loved her family beyond measure, and would often say "We have the best family ever."
Judy is survived by her husband Bob, of East Bridgewater. She leaves behind her son Jeff Dennis and his wife Chris, of Sandwich MA; her daughter Julie Stone, of Carver MA; her daughter Deanna Halner, of Fall River MA; and her daughter Angel Halner and her fiance Anthony Piemonte, of Londonderry NH. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Tyler Dennis (and wife Laurel Tessier), Cathy Dennis, Jesse Stone, James Stone, Josiah Stone, Lucca Piemonte, and Cole Piemonte. Judy leaves behind countless friends, and others whose lives were touched, in some way, by her generous and loving nature. Judy is predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Phillip; her sister, Priscilla; her brothers, William and Donald; her son, Scott; and her daughter, Susan.
Funeral arrangements have been made with Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 98 Bedford St, Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 10th from 11am-2pm. Service will be at 2pm, immediately followed by a gathering of friends and family at Bob Dennis's home in East Bridgewater. A burial will be planned at a later date.
