Albert Newel Whitney passed away Friday, February 20, 2026. He was born on October 9, 1934 in Garland, Utah to the late Albert Owen and Nelda (nee Burns) Whitney.
He attended school in Garland, Utah. Married Nancy Rynders in Madison on January 19, 1957.
Albert served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959 in Heilbron, Germany, where he operated the message center for 2 years. After discharge, he moved with Nancy to San Francisco where he attended technical school to become a watchmaker. He later opened Whitney Jewelers on State Street in Madison. He worked as a watchmaker and jeweler for the rest of his life until retirement, when he enjoyed several overseas trips throughout the South Pacific, Europe, the British Isles, and North Africa.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion during his final days.
