Robert James Corliss, age 94, passed away on February 25, 2026. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Robert and Anna Corliss.
While growing up, he supported his family by working dog kennels which began his lifelong love of training dogs. He eventually put himself through college and medical school training and campaigning dogs for Bob Maytag. He won numerous field trials throughout the United States and continued to train and campaign dogs throughout his life.
He was board certified in five medical specialties, but his love was adult and pediatric cardiology. He worked in Madison for many years. He also volunteered his time to Healing the Children missions and the St. Vincent de Paul free clinic in Portage, Wisconsin. He was a physician, a pilot, a farmer, an adventurer and a mentor to many.
Bob married Debby Keyes in 1987 and together they enjoyed many happy years on their farm in Endeavor, Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife Debby, his sons Robert (Jeni), Chad (Angie) and Jason and his daughter Julia. He is further survived by his grandchildren Bobby, Brooks, Laken and Miles, his nephews and many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy, and his parents.
A gathering celebrating Bob’s life will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 1 – 4 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison.
Please share your memories of Bob by posting here in his guestbook.
