Albert C. "Al" Wilson, 95, of Metamora, IL, passed away at 4:46 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Snyder Village Health Center in Metamora.
He was born on June 26, 1928, in Keokuk, IA, to Orville C. and Norma I. (Hasley) Wilson. He married Arbutus Stauffer on March 16, 1951 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, IL. She passed away on November 1, 2014.
Surviving are his two daughters, Cynthia (Greg) Schroeder of Peoria and Carol John of Normal, IL; four grandchildren, Jenny (Evan) Parker, Garrett (Lauren Gravenites) Schroeder, Lora John (Jerome Castillo), and Nalin (Lauren) John; two great-grandchildren, Grayson Schroeder and Cayden John-Castillo; and dearly loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and four sisters.
Al was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1950 – 1952 and attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. He worked for Keystone Steel and Wire in Peoria for 20 years and for CILCO for 16 years. He attended Grace Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge of Avon, IL, Little Swan Lake Board in Avon, IL, and former Snyder Village Resident Council Board President. Al was a 32nd Degree Mason, coached men's softball, worked in Jr. C.E. at church, and a patrolman and bookkeeper at Little Swan Lake.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service at the funeral home on Friday. A private family burial will follow his service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Snyder Village Residents in Need Fund, 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548. Online condolences at www.masonfuneralhomes.com.
