SEARSPORT Alberta Frances (Nichols) Ames, 94, of Searsport, died on
Monday, August 19, 2024 at Glen Ridge Nursing Center in Augusta. Born in Calais
on January 7, 1930, she was the daughter of Albert A. and Frances (Rogers)
Nichols, and was a member of the Class of 1948 at Searsport High School. On
June 8, 1948, she married Richard W. Ames who predeceased her in 1981.
Alberta had worked as a secretary at the Tank Farm at the Searsport Docks, and
was a member of the Searsport United Methodist Church. She also loved knitting,
sewing and gardening.
In addition to her husband, Alberta was predeceased by three sisters, Helen West,
Ruth Ann Robinson, and Ina Trundy. Surviving are her four children, Neil Ames
and his wife, Susan of Beaufort, SC, Gwen Bacon and her husband, Bryan of
Sidney, Gary Ames of Kokadjo; and Suellen Ames and Ron Curtis of Levant; four
grandchildren, Christopher (Deanna) Ames, Gary Cruz, Nicholas (Megan) Bacon,
Adam (Caitlin) Bacon; three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held in the Gordon Cemetery in Searsport.

Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.

I remember Alberta at the yarn shop. She was so strong and always had a great idea or opinion. Sorry for you loss Sue Ellen and family.
