Steven Edward Ames

Steven Edward Ames, age 54, of Louisville, KY, passed away on January 20, 2026 at home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on September 27, 1971, to Ann (House) and Edward Ames, he grew up in Louisville, KY. He began his career as a concrete finisher with House Brothers before forming his own business, Ames Concrete Company Incorporated. In 2010, he made a successful transition to a career in real estate where his construction background proved invaluable to his clients, and in recent years expanded to flipping houses. Steve was a diehard Uof L fan who enjoyed singing and playing guitar. He was a member of New Life Church in Louisville where he had in previous years played on the worship team. Steve loved helping others by teaching them what he knew - teaching Sunday School and Financial Peace University classes at a previous church and training new real estate agents at several brokerages. Steve was known as a hard worker, was mechanically inclined, and could fix almost anything. He was a man of many talents- building hot rods out of next to nothing with an eye for what would make it more appealing, and he even built an in-ground pool at his home.
Steven was preceded in death by his grandparents and father, Edward. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Candace, and four children: MaryBeth (Cody), Tyler (Paxton), Emily, and Claire. He is also survived by his mother, Ann; siblings, Terry (Lisa), Eddie, Joann, Willie (Robin), Debra (Kyle), and Patty (Scotty); and numerous great aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, January 22nd from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Ratterman Brothers East Louisville (12900 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40243) and on Friday, January 23rd from 11:00am-1:00pm at New Life Church (3402 GooseCreek Road, Louisville, KY 40241). The funeral will be held at New Life Church (3402 Goose Creek Rd, Louisville, KY 40241) at 1:00pm on Friday, January 23rd. Burial at Calvary Cemetery to follow.
