Very sorry to hear of 'Irv's' passing. He was my father's plane captain during what they referred to as 'The Cruise from Hell', an 11-month round the world cruise with VF102 aboard the U.S.S. Tarawa. I had the pleasure of corresponding with him over the years and enjoying his 'Airdale Tales' newsletter, of which he was justifiably proud. I count myself as lucky to have known him, if only for a few years.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Ottman. As a neighbor I always enjoyed talking to him when he was out in the yard working. He was a man who lived many adventures and had the stories to tell!

Irv, as he told me to call him, was a very interesting and captivating storyteller! He told me long stories of his exploits during leave time in Europe while serving with the United State's Navy. He also spoke proudly and with a twinkle in his eye of how his path crossed numerous times with his beloved future wife before they finally married. He also spoke jokingly of a rivalry with 'Don' over their mutual high schools--Don at Male High School and he at DuPont Manual High School. Irv was a very nice man. God bless his soul!

Angie,
I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. I am grateful I had the opportunity to meet him several years ago and learn more about him and your mother. My heart goes out to you, David and your family.
