Linda OConnell Obituary

Linda Sue OConnell, born on July 6, 1945, went home peacefully surrounded by her family on February 23, 2026. A proud graduate of DuPont Manual High School, Linda carried with her a vibrant spirit that danced and partied through life, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

With a personality that sparkled like the sun, Linda was sassy and outspoken, unafraid to voice her opinions while simultaneously nurturing a tender heart that embraced those around her. Her keen fashion sense and unmistakable style often drew admiration, making her a beacon of elegance in any gathering, embodying the essence of confidence and grace.

Among her many passions, Linda found joy in the rhythm of dance, where the music would revive her spirit and allow her to express herself freely. The excitement of Derby season were cherished moments for her; she relished the festivities with an enthusiasm that was infectious. Linda’s love for Rough River Lake was steadfast, providing her with endless opportunities for relaxation and celebration amidst the scenic beauty.

Family was the centerpiece of Linda’s life, where her proudest accomplishments resided. She took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, instilling in them the values of strength and the importance of love and unity. Linda’s commitment to family was not merely a facet of her life; it was the very foundation upon which she built her legacy.

Linda's husband, Lee, was her true soulmate and the love of her life for 39 years. He brought unwavering love and was the light through some of the most difficult times of her life till the very end.

In social circles, she was known for her unapologetic love for a good margarita, a testament to her spirited nature and zest for life. Linda will be remembered not only for her vivacious character but for the warmth she shared, the laughter she inspired, and the legacies she nurtured. Her memory will continue to dance through the hearts of her family and friends, a lasting reminder of a life lived fully and with joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Juanita Franklin; sister, Pam OConnell; and her grandsons, Kevin Murphy and Logan Bohannon.

Linda leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Lee OConnell; children, Angel (David) Murphy, Laura (Danny) Smith, Todd (Michelle) Schmitt and Brad (Chrisi) Bohannon; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Linda's life will be on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at VFW Post 1181, 6518 Blevins Gap Road, Louisville, KY 40272, from 2pm-4pm.
