Alberta Black Obituary
Alberta was born in Phillipsburg, NJ on February 9, 1949 to the late Frederick S. Pyatt and Cleda V. Watson Pyatt.
Alberta was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1968, worked at various manufacturing companies in the Phillipsburg-Easton area, and was a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed scrapbooking, puzzles, and listening to Irish music group Celtic Thunder. Alberta was known for her Pepper Pot Soup, made with homemade noodles. In her earlier years, Alberta enjoyed roller skating at Bushkill Park in Easton, PA, where she met her husband, Rodger. Alberta was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the former St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Alberta is survived by Three Grandsons, Cody (Brittany) Reiger Nicholas Reiger, and James J. Varga; Great-grandsons, Jackson and Logan Reiger; Siblings, Roy Pyatt, Joyce Pyatt, Virginia Allen, Frances Pyatt, Charlotte Pugh, Jane Pyatt and Stella Price; numerous nieces and nephews. Alberta was predeceased by Husband, Rodger Black, Daughter, Denise Varga, Grandson, Joseph Stanley Reiger; and Brother, Howard "Zeke" Pyatt.
A Visitation for the Family and Friends of Alberta will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Rupell Funeral Home, LLC; 465 Memorial Pkwy; Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairmount Cemetery; Phillipsburg, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Alberta's name to Common Sense for Animals; PO Box 589; Broadway, NJ 08808 or Phillipsburg Emergency Squad; PO Box 215; Phillipsburg, NJ 08865.
