Alberta V. Wood

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Alberta V. Wood, 96, who departed this life on October 10, 2025, at Moundsville Healthcare Center. Born on July 9, 1929, in Moundsville, West Virginia, Alberta was a devoted and loving homemaker, she dedicated her life to her family and is in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She always had a smile for everyone and maintained a great sense of humor. She will be missed dearly by her family, and everyone that knew her.

A devout Christian, Alberta was the matriarch of a five generation family whose parents emigrated from Croatia at the turn of the century. She is leaving behind five children, Mary Lou Patterson of Akron, Ohio, Orval 'Rocky' Wood, Charlie Eckhart, Roberta Burge and Robin Wood all of Moundsville. several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by husband Orval Wood, son Rudy Lee Wood, and daughter Sharon Sue 'Babes' Wilson, who just left us for her place in Heaven last month.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 11am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, WV. Interment to follow at Salem Cemetery in Glen Easton, WV.
