Alberte Denis cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on September 26, 2025, in Freeport, New York.

Alberte was born on March 4, 1930 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, daughter of Gustave Cantave and Francine Desire; sister to Edith Cantave (Solide) and Hendrick Cantave (deceased.) In 1954, Alberte married Antoine Denis in Haiti. Later that year, they welcomed their son Marc Denis. In 1963, Antoine sent for Alberte and Marc and they settled in Westbury, Long Island. A daughter, Kathelyne joined the family in 1966.

Alberte enriched her spirituality by traveling to retreats with her sister and mother to Graymoor in Garrison, NY as well as to retreats in Montreal, Canada. She loved gardening, shopping and doing puzzles. She was known for her gentle spirit, shy giggles and reading French novels. She was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Islanders and boxing. "Friday night Chicken Delight" was instituted by her in order to watch whatever sporting event was being telecast on Friday nights! Most of all, she had a special gift in her ability to make everyone feel seen and heard.

She is survived by her children Marc Denis (Elizabeth) and Kathelyne; grandchildren Taylor and Spencer; great-granddaughter, Isabel; sister Edith Solide; nephews Eddy Solide and Patrick Denis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antoine.
