Aldean Duffy

Aldean (Deanie) Alice Duffy, age 87, of Westport, passed away peacefully at home among family on Saturday, October 11, 2025, after a long and heroic struggle with illness. Deanie was born to Frank and Jennie (Sutkowski) Maliszewski on February 23, 1938, in Southport, Connecticut where she grew up. She graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in 1956 in Fairfield, CT.
Deanie met Thomas C. Duffy, and they were married on January 24, 1958, in Norwalk, CT. Soon after marriage they built a home in Greens Farms where they lived all their married life. They were happily married 67 years before she passed. In her younger years she worked for the Southern Connecticut Telephone Company and in retail before pursuing a career with the Save The Children Foundation where she spent decades assisting during catastrophes and managing sponsorships and donations for children around the world.
Deanie is well known in the community, growing up in Southport and living her life in Westport. She has a huge family and numerous lifelong friends spread across Southern Connecticut, the Northeast, and the country. She will be missed by many.
She had many hobbies in life including bowling, reading, and playing cards. But the things she enjoyed most were visits with family, yardwork, gardening, and time at the beach. She also enjoyed time with her family at their cabin in Pea Brook, NY.
Deanie is survived by her husband and four children: Thomas (Tammy) Duffy Jr. of Hamilton, CO, Kimberly Atterbury of Marysville, WA, Patrick (Kathrine) Duffy of Westport, CT, and Kevin Duffy of Colorado Springs, CO; nine grandchildren, Melissa Soucy of Denver, CO, Chad Duffy of Clifton, CO, Brittney Atterbury of Richland, WA, Lindsey Atterbury of Marysville, WA, Austin Duffy of Newtown, CT, Hunter Duffy of Seymour, CT, Sadie Duffy of Corvallis, OR, Bridget Duffy of Colorado Springs, CO, and William Duffy-Young of Colorado Springs, CO; two great grandchildren, Autumn Soucy and Mason Soucy of Denver, CO.
Aldean was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Vincent and Raymond Maliszewski, and a son-in-law, Bruce Atterbury.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday October 24th at 11:00 AM in Saint Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Rd. N., Westport, Interment will occur on April 24th at 11AM, 2026 in St Patrick Cemetery Long Eddy, NY, when family can travel to
attend. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donating to the American Cancer Society or Save the Children.
