Alden P. Brendemuhl, 90, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Felton, MN, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Farmstead Living in Moorhead.
Born on October 25, 1934, in Kragnes, MN, Alden was the son of Walter and Alice (Johnson) Brendemuhl. He was baptized on December 16, 1934. Alden attended the Northwest School of Agriculture, University of MN, graduating in 1953. He then enlisted in the United States Marines, where he honorably served his country overseas, participating in all ten major engagements during the Korean Conflict. His division was awarded two Presidential Unit Citations for their extraordinary service.
On January 11, 1969, Alden married Diana Getz, and together they raised a blended family of five children: Michael, Kathleen, Paul, Kathy Ann, and Linda. Following the passing of Diana's daughter, Kathy Ann, they welcomed three grandchildren, Wayne, Michelle, and Jana, into their family.
Alden had a deep passion for farming, partnering with his brothers, Warren and Morton, until they pursued separate paths in the 1970s. He continued to farm throughout his life, eventually partnering with his son, Paul, until his retirement. Even after stepping back from farming, Alden continued to lend a helping hand, often seen in a tractor or combine assisting his son.
In addition to his dedication to farming, Alden contributed his time and expertise by serving on the boards of the Felton Elevator and Flowing Township. He was also an avid pilot, holding a private pilot's license and enjoying flights to inspect his crops, partake in breakfast fly-ins, and embark on fishing trips with friends.
Alden leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family, community, and the land he cherished. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Kurt) Okke of Hawley, MN; son, Alden Paul (Chris) Brendemuhl Jr. of Lake Park, MN; daughter, Linda Brendemuhl of Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren, Wayne (Meagan) Niemi, Michelle (Payne) Hensel, Jana (Andrew) Kensok, Kyle (Samantha) Okke, Korey Okke, Kasey (Jessica) Okke, Autumn Brendemuhl, Ethan (Christina) Brendemuhl, Winter (Preston) Brekhus, and Shelby Heinz; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eleanor (Jim) Fischer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Diana Brendemuhl (2024); one son, Michael Brendemuhl; step-daughter, Kathy Ann Niemi; two brothers, Warren (Marie) Brendemuhl, and Morton (Janice) Brendemuhl.
A memorial service for Alden will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11AM in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Felton, MN. Family and friends will gather at the church one hour prior. Interment of ashes will be in Felton Cemetery.
