Aldira Tavares Obituary
Aldira Tavares, 100, of Bethlehem, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Born on November 6, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Maria (DaSilva) and Antonio Silva. She was the loving wife of the late Goncalo Tavares.
Aldira's life revolved around her family. The care and love for her family was endless. She enjoyed music, playing the guitar and singing. In her younger years, Aldira helped countless members of the Portuguese community in Bethlehem by translating or helping with anything someone may have needed. Trips to the casino and her grand pups, Hershey, Leon and Rocky brought her so much joy.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Goncalo "Sal" Tavares, Joseph Tavares and his wife, Eileen and Ann Marques and her husband, (Ildefonso); grandchildren, Scott Tavares, Stacey Tavares-Considine (Jason), Mark Tavares (Kristen Vandersande), Andrew Tavares (Kaitlynn Fair), Kristen Marques and Jenna Boring (Robert); great-grandchildren, Logan, Sydney and Caleb and sister-in-law, Betty Sylva. Aldira was preceded in death by her brothers, Dennis Sylva and Tony Silva and daughter in law, Anne "Nancy" Tavares.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 9-10 a.m. Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
The Tavares family wishes to thank the staff of Cedarbrook Fountain Hill for the great care they provided Aldira.
