It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Aldo Bishop, who left us on September 27, 2025, in Murray, Utah, at the age of 60.
Born on March 3, 1965, in Hollywood, California, and raised in Salt Lake City, Aldo was known for his joyful spirit, quick wit, and athletic nature. From building his own skateboard halfpipe to snowboarding, skiing, and even winning a jet ski race the very first time he tried, Aldo brought energy and excitement to everything he pursued. He was also a gifted artist, sharing his creativity and joy with all who knew him.
Aldo's journey through life included challenges, but those very challenges became the foundation of his greatest legacy: nearly ten years of sobriety. He dedicated eight years of service to First Step House, helping others rebuild their lives with honesty, compassion, and strength. As a cofounder of the Utah Harm Reduction Coalition, Aldo gave nearly nine years of leadership and service to a mission that transformed countless lives.
His greatest joy was building a life with his beloved wife, Jennifer. Together they created a home full of love, laughter, antiques, and nostalgia. To Jennifer's children and grandchildren, Aldo was more than a husband-he was a devoted father figure and "Opa." To his family and friends, he was a mentor, a source of humor, and a wellspring of kindness.
A celebration of Aldo's life will be held in the coming weeks. His family invites all who knew him to honor his memory by carrying forward his legacy of service, laughter, and love.
Aldo was preceded in death by his parents, Cloyd and Donna Wangsgard, his mother Claudine Pluzynski, and his eldest sister, Lynda.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer; her daughters, Brittany Kelly and Ema Preetorius (Sean); and his cherished grandchildren, Cylis and Jay Preetorius. He is also survived by his father, Nelson Tyler (Liz Zigler); sister, Dori Battaglia (Darryl); brother, Chris Tyler (Rose). Brother Scott Pluzynski (Michelle); stepfather, Ed Pluzynski (Sue Love); nephew, Tristan, and niece, Ella Pluzynski. He is further survived by his sisters, Cristine Lybbert, Diane Castell, Marie Kent, and Ilene Whipple; brother, Doug Wangsgard; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Aldo will be remembered for his laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering love. Though he has left this world, his light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
