Aldo Cicchetti Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tuttle Funeral Home on Jan. 14, 2025.
Aldo Cicchetti Sr., 87, passed away on January 13, 2025, at his residence in Dover, New Jersey. He was born in New York City on June 10, 1937, to his parents Luciano and Benilda Cicchetti.
Upon moving to Chrystal Street in Dover at six months old, Aldo attended Academy Street School and later attended Dover High School where he graduated with the class of '55. Aldo was highly regarded in the community. For 32 years, he was the owner of the Dover Corner Market. He also spent 7 years as a Little League Coach. After operating the Dover Corner Market, he worked at Kings for 14 years. Aldo first entered public office when he was elected as the 3rd Ward Alderman. He later became Mayor of Dover and dedicated 28 years to fulfilling these two community roles. In addition, Aldo spent 18 years acting as the Dover Water Commissioner.
His additional free time was spent with his family fishing, riding motorcycles, dining out during summers at the shore, playing card games with the boys at East Dover Social Club, playing guitar, crafting folk art, and playfully teasing with his always-ready puns and play on words. His greatest gift was his love of people and his way of putting people at ease, and making them laugh. He was a Parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, and he was also a long-time member of the East Dover Social Club.
Aldo is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Anita Cicchetti. He is also survived by his four beloved children, Aldo Cicchetti Jr., and his partner Sue Friel, Lisa (Cicchetti) Newkirk, Christopher Cicchetti and his wife Tammy Cicchetti, and Julie Cicchetti; and his sister Anita Hulsman. Aldo also leaves behind his grandchildren Jamie Newkirk, Chris Newkirk and his partner Sarah Sacasa; his great grandchildren Destiny Newkirk and Sienna Newkirk; and many members of the DiGiacopo family.
He is predeceased by his father Luciano Cicchetti, his mother Benilda (Santucci) Cicchetti, brothers Batista (Tito) Cicchetti, Bernard (Bergie) Cicchetti, Dominic (Gumps) Cicchetti, and his sisters Anna (Cicchetti) Rosica, Ada (Cicchetti) Visioli, and Alma (Cicchetti) Royer.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, between 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, Route 10 in Randolph. A Funeral Service will take place at Sacred Heart Parish in Dover on Thursday, January 16, to begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery.
