Alease Smith Barham, 94, of Elberon, Va, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Clyde B. Smith and Louise Frazier Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Cofer Barham; a son, James Walter Barham; and two sisters, Ellen Smith Baugh (Virginius) and Virginia Smith Valenti (Nicholas). She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Barham Woodard (Dennis), Mary E. Barham, and Emily Barham Seward (Michael); grandchildren, Catharine Seward Goerger (Kevin), Beth Seward, Michael Kenneth Woodard (Kelly), and Rebecca Woodard Murdoch (Clayton); great grandchildren, Clayton, Preston, Stephen, Samuel, Evelyn, Madelyn and Charlotte.
Mrs. Barham was very proud of her children and encouraged them all to further themselves through higher education. She loved the Chesapeake Bay and James River where with Kenneth, they enjoyed boating and fishing. Together they loved to travel especially to the Outer Banks and Great Smokey Mountains.
A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Surry, Va. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, www.cbf.org or your local SPCA. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com
