Viola L. McGeachy, 90, of Lancaster, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Hamilton Arms. Born in Smithfield, VA, she was the daughter of the late Fannie (Turner) Pope and Floyd Pope.
Viola was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love for her family was the center of her life. She is survived by her sons, Ernest L. McGeachy of Washington and Henry Pope of Washington, DC, and Linda McGeachy of Lancaster, PA. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Bobby, Brittney, Tyler, Marcquawne, Journey, Kia, and Alex; and great-grandchildren: Amina, Amanda, Tyler Jr., Prince, Peninna, and Novella.
She is also survived by her siblings, Mamie Parker, Fannie Mae Bear, and Joe Pope. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, William McGeachy.
Viola lived a life of service and faith. She was a proud Soldier of The Salvation Army and a longtime member and volunteer, dedicating much of her time to helping others and serving her community.
She will also be remembered for the warmth she shared in her home. Viola was an excellent cook, especially known for her delicious chicken and dumplings, and she loved listening to her treasured record collection, which often filled her home with music.
A Home Going Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. Family and friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
