Alec Michael Norman Withers, born on August 2, 2000, in Twin Falls, Idaho, went to heaven on December 7, 2024.
Alec was known for his love of physical work and he always ensured that the yard was always watered and well-kept. One summer dragonflies appeared in the backyard while Cheryl was pregnant with Alec. The family lived there for three years and had never seen dragonflies. Almost a dozen were flying around and they have come back ever since. Alec was often told a story how dragonflies would show up just for him and they are magical.
Alec was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. He was a wonderful artist and took part in the gifted and talented art program when he was younger in school.
Alec created a ‘cat complex’ out of a shed, and any stray cat that found shelter would be loved and taken care of. He also had a love of bugs and spiders; in fact, he held a black widow spider while it fed on a grasshopper. It was like they knew that he would not harm them.
As the eldest sibling, Alec could be mean to his brothers but he was a fierce protector whenever they faced adversity. First thing he wanted to do was clobber anybody picking on his brothers. Alec loves his family more than anything, and is very protective of them. He also believes and accepts that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins.
A Celebration of Life will be held December 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Buhl Bible Church, 1004 Burley Ave, Buhl, ID 83316.
Alec is survived by his mother, Cheryl Vierstra, brothers, Ayden and Asher. father, Mike Withers (Melissa), and his bonus brother, Colby Johnson, along with his nephew, Jameson. Alec is also survived many aunts, uncles, and first and second cousins.
Alec is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, David and Terry Withers, uncle Tom Withers, and bonus brother Dillon Johnson Hoover, as well as his maternal grandparents, Norman and Corrie Vierstra, uncle Michael Vierstra, and cousin Joey Christensen. Their memories will surely provide solace and strength to Alec's family as they reflect on the interconnectedness of their lives.
