Alex Matthew Deel, age 55 of Crawfordsville, passed away unexpectedly at his home.
Alex was born on August 2, 1969 in Gary, IN. He was the son of Donald H. and Nellie J. (Barnes) Deel. Alex was a 1988 graduate of Seeger High School. Alex was a longtime Warren County Resident before moving to Crawfordsville in 2016.
After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Ft. Lewis in Washington. He served in the U.S. Army for four years before he was honorably discharged. After his military service, Alex worked for C&D Technologies until 2020. He then started at Penguin Random House and was currently working in the maintenance department.
Alex was very proud of his service to his country. He enjoyed playing golf and playing softball in the area leagues. Alex held long-standing baseball and wrestling records at Seeger High School. He was an active member of Rock Point Church in Crawfordsville.
Alex married Lori Leak and they had a daughter, Chelsea Deel (fiancé: Joseph “Joe” Wightman) of Cumberland, IN. They later divorced. He married Kimberly Stroud and they had 3 children, Matthew Deel of Crawfordsville, IN, Megan Deel of Crawfordsville, IN, and Marie Deel (fiancé: Jacob Swanson) of Williamsport, IN. They later divorced. Also surviving are siblings, Raymond Deel of Attica, IN, Timothy Deel of Lakeland, FL, Deborah Klebofski (Keith Solar) of San Diego, CA, Rebecca Dezarn of Lakeland, FL, Margaret Lowery of Lakeland, FL, Jean Neff of Lakeland, FL, and Denise Deel-Jenkins (Ronny Edwards) of Williamsport, IN.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald J. Deel and Steven Deel.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport from noon until funeral service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Danny Kolota officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paws N Claws.
