Larry Deel

Mr. Larry Deel, age 66, of the New Garden Road section of Honaker, Virginia passed away Saturday (March 7, 2026) at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. Born March 22, 1959 in Grundy, Virginia, he was a son of the late Dewey and Ida Fay Thomas Deel. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a graduate of Council High School and a member of Blackford Community Church. He had formerly been employed as a coal miner, truck driver, and logger, working with his son-in-law. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horses. A devoted father and grandfather, he dedicated his life to his family, making sure all their needs were meet with his loving care.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Roger Deel, Carl Deel, J.C. Deel, Wayne Deel, Don Deel, and Shirley Ridenhour; two nephews, Dustin Ridenhour and Little Ricky Thomas, and one infant grandchild.

Survivors include one daughter, Heather Deel Street and husband, Jady, who was like a son; two grandchildren, Alexis Deel Street and wife, Harlie Deel Street and Jayden Larry Deel Street; great-grandson, Winston Deel Street; two siblings, Carlos Deel and Kathy Deel; sister-in-law, Sis Deel; several nieces and nephew, and all of his extra youngins' also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Guy Harris officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Deel Cemetery at Vansant, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 1:15 PM to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be Billy Street, Ricky Thomas, Ashley Young, Bryson Young, Tyler Mullins, Travis Ramsey, and Michael Holmes.

Relatives and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
