Wanda Deel Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 10, 2026.
Wanda Ann Deel, age 67, of Sykesville, known for her loving nature, creative spirit, and thoughtful heart, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She was born on November 21, 1958, in Carroll County, MD.

Wanda's journey began as the daughter of the late William B. and Ruth Ann (Johnson) Schwarting.

She attended South Carroll High School.

Married to James P. "Buzz" Deel of Sykesville, Wanda was not only a partner in life but also the cornerstone of their home. Her role as a homemaker was one she cherished deeply, providing a warm and loving environment for their two sons, Christopher J. Deel and his partner Anna of Linthicum Heights, MD, and Joseph Deel of Dallas, TX. Her sister, Judith Ann Dash of Sykesville, shared in the many joys and trials of life, and Wanda held a special place in the heart of her mother-in-law, Bessie Jerrine Deel of Hayside, VA.

Possessing an entrepreneurial spirit, Wanda was an invaluable asset to her husband's business, serving as bookkeeper for many years. Her keen eye for detail and her ability to manage complex tasks with ease were a testament to her intelligence and diligence.

Wanda found solace and joy in her garden, tending to her plants with the same care and affection she showed to her family and friends. She was also an exceptional cook. Crafting and sewing were not just hobbies for Wanda; they were expressions of her love, with every stitch and brushstroke imbued with meaning.

At Wanda's request, services and interment will be private. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
