I worked for Al at United in Pittsburgh for only two years, leaving to start my own engineering company. Al insisted I come to NY before he would let me leave. Though I resisted, thinking he wanted to convince me to stay, instead he simply wanted to thank me in person. What a grand gesture! Sorry to read of his passing...
