With great sorrow, we grieve the passing of our beloved father and brother, Alex Daniel Hutchinson, Jr. who left us on January 4, 2025 at the age of 78. Though his life was marked by struggles after his military service, Alex showed remarkable strength and resilience. He will be remembered for his infectious humor, his passion for golf, muscle cars and his kind heart.
Born on December 20, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida, Alex grew up in Jacksonville and quickly became known for his charming personality. He loved to dress well, spend time on the golf course, and appreciated the power and beauty of muscle cars. But beyond these interests, he faced ongoing battles with mental health challenges that often-made life more difficult for him. Despite these struggles, he remained a loving father, brother, and friend and never stopped trying to find peace.
His journey was a reminder of the silent battles many faces, and he fought bravely in ways that many may not have seen. We hope his story encourages others to seek support when they need it and to understand that mental health struggles are just as real as physical ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alma Albertie (Lewis) and Alex D. Hutchinson; wife, Phyllis E. Hutchinson; and sister, Rosemary P. Smith.
He leaves to cherish loving and devoted sons, Alex D. Hutchinson, Alex E. Hutchinson (Natlie), and Christoper L. Hutchinson; brothers, Lewis Albertie (Sheryl) and Samuel Albertie (Carol); many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Though he is no longer with us, his memory lives on through his love of life, his passions, and his fight to be understood. Danny Boy will be truly missed!
