Alex Woodrow Medlin III, 62, Mount Olive resident, went to his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 2, 2023, while at his home.
Alex had been employed in maintenance and as a training officer at Guilford East of Kenansville, and later at Mt. Olive Pickle Company. Known for his mechanical abilities, he had a true talent of fixing things, and his accomplishment of any given task was testament to his endurance. A problem solver to situations to where no one else could conquer, many shared with him their problems or shortcomings.
Alex was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worshiped at the Mount Olive Ward. He had dutifully served his church mission at Halifax, Nova Scotia, in Canada.
Surviving Alex is his wife, Carol Boyle Medlin, whom he married May 12, 1989 in the Washington, D.C. Latter-day Saints Temple; their son, 21-year old Joshua Warren Medlin, of Smithfield; his father and step-mother, A. W. Medlin, Jr. and Patricia Neal Medlin of Mooresville; two brothers, Todd Medlin of Clayton, and Mark Medlin and wife, Jennifer, of Mount Olive; a sister, Donna Medlin Edwards and husband, Bobby, of Mount Olive; and several nieces and nephews.
Alex was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Bryant Medlin in December of 2006.
Graveside funeral services will be held SATURDAY, JANUARY 7, at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, and will be conducted by Latter-day Saints Church officials. A time of visitation with the family will follow the service.
