Alex Drew Wharton

Alex Drew Wharton, age 41, of Rockaway Twp., New Jersey, died on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
Alex was born in Wayne, New Jersey to Donald Wharton and Barbara Moeller and was raised in Lincoln Park, NJ. In 2011 Alex moved to Rockaway Township alongside his wife, Carla. He was formerly employed by Galaxy Recycling before becoming a member of the G1 Contracting team, where he brought joy and passion to the workplace. While at G1 he not only played vital roles in construction projects, but he made personal connections with everyone around him.
Alex loved riding dirt bikes, quads, and his side-by-side with his boys at their home in Upstate New York. In the summer months you could catch him swimming in the ocean, enjoying fires and spending time at the beach house with kids and loved ones. He was an active member of the community, coaching Rockaway Rockets Football and Renegades Lacrosse.
Alex will be remembered for his kind heart and willingness to always lend a hand when needed.
He is preceded in death by his Paternal grandmother, Maria Wharton, and Maternal grandparents Barbara (Bobby) and Jack Portlock.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Carla Wharton; three sons, Dominic Wharton, Salvatore Wharton, and Michael Wharton; his parents, Barbara Moeller and Don Wharton; his sister, Leia Wharton-Suk; mother and father in law, Ron and Mary DeLucia; two brothers in law, Anthony DeLucia (Mikaela), and Nicholas DeLucia (Alexa Baskinger); and his Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Aunts, and Uncles.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 17th, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia Church, 70 Church St. Rockaway NJ..
